A couple months ago, I was doing a reading for a mom and her daughter. During the session I connected with the mom's grandmother. After sharing messages from her, I asked they had any questions. The daughter asked if the grandmother could share the lost recipe for her famous Brown Bobbies - donuts made with a unique Brown Bobby machine. While we didn't retrieve the full recipe, the discussion around the donuts sparked fond memories of the grandmother and the family, which the mom and daughter enjoyed.

I do love a good donut, so I decided to learn more about Brown Bobbies and find a recipe. There isn't much online about it, but I did find a recipe that someone shared. A few weeks later I was thinking about the donuts so searched for the recipe. I remember typing in "Brown bobby donuts". The top result was a video from Bobby Flay for Brown Butter Donuts. You can find the video with the recipe here: Bobby Flay's Baked Doughnuts | Brunch @ Bobby's | Food Network

I watched the video and decided that I was going to make these donuts. I thought it would be fun to make homemade donuts. What's the worst thing that can happen?

I made the donuts this morning. They were pretty good, given it was my first attempt! I love chocolate donuts, so I made some chocolate ganache. The chocolate really enhanced the donuts.

The donuts were far from perfect, but perfection wasn't the goal. The goal was to challenge myself to do something out of my comfort zone (which happened to have a tasty treat as a reward). Now that I've made the donuts, there are a few tweaks that would make the process and the donuts even better.

We're here to embrace life's experiences. If you've been thinking about trying something new or stepping out of your comfort zone, take this as your sign to start. Prepare as best you can, but remember that the biggest growth happens through doing and experiencing. Enjoy the journey—you might just discover something sweet along the way!
